Okay, time for a real update! 'Cause I know y'all haven't had one in a looong time. I've been too busy and stressed to keep everyone else abreast of my goings-on.
Number one: I'm quitting my job. A multitude of factors were involved in this, not least of which was that I am incredibly tired of it. I work ten hour days on my feet, with an hour's commute each way, and get home every night feeling like I have accomplished exactly nothing.
My roommate gets left with all the cleaning and such around the house, because more often than not I'm just not home, and when I am around after work I'm absolutely exhausted. My off days have been spent running around doing as many errands as I can fit into them. Which, with my schedule and my lack of car/driving, is not as many as I'd like. (Most of my free time is also spent as much as possibly with my boyfriend, I will admit. But that's pretty much only on the weekends.)
I'm not getting paid enough to be working like this. If I were getting paid a few dollars more an hour, it might be worth the boredom and exhaustion.
Now, don't start in about "Well what are you gonna do when you get back from your trip and have no job?" 'cause I've thought this one out thoroughly. I still have the wrapps place, where I was working my second job back in the spring. Yes, I am technically still employed there, and I've even asked the manager if she can find me hours when I come back if I need them.
I also have a second job in the works. I have a call to make when I get back in town, an official interview and such to dance through, but there was this wonderfully opportunistic moment about a month ago. It's a tale for another time, but suffice it to say I should be picking up a good, well-paying job with full benefits. The sort of job I need, where you just do the damn work and you're done with it, rather than standing around looking busy and not actually accomplishing anything for a set number of hours.
Number two: I'm going to Colorado! Yaaay! I'm headed back into Denver in about six days (panicpanicpanic!!) for NanDesuKan and a general visit. I fly out on Thursday, the eleventh (and won't that be a fun security dance, flying one-way, alone, on 9/11. X.X), and con is Friday through Sunday. I plan to spend Monday running around outside of con with Niisan, and possibly with the accompaniment of
eccentric_alex and her boyfriend, who I will be spending Tuesday and Wednesday (at least) with, and then Thursday/Friday with my stepmom and my dad, and then my father is driving me home with all the junk I left behind in Colorado.
Woohoo, road trip with my (somewhat) estranged father. I need to email
sharylm and make sure it's alright to spend Monday night in the house so Niisan can actually stick around that extra day, 'cause the hotel for con only extends through Sunday night, and what with a ten hour drive ahead of him, he should be leaving in the morning. And I need to call my dad and make sure it's okay if we push all the plans back about a day to give me more time out there.
Guys, I'll try to fit everyone in for at least a dinner or something!
pirate_fae and family, probably gonna be Wednesday or Thursday night, if that works? I have no transportation past
fmtenpo leaving on Tuesday morning as some crazy early hour. Everything from that point is buses or wherever people can pick me up.
I wish I could stay longer, even, but I do have to come back before my dear roommate goes crazy being alone in the house. It's been bad enough just with me gone at work all the time, she's gonna be a total loony by the time I make it back anyway.
And then, when I get back, plans go into motion to bring my beautiful Ayame (
flawless_mask) out here to spend a week with us. Early to mid-October is what it's sounding like, but I've got to buy her tickets and all that still. It's gonna be an incredibly fun autumn this year, I think. Stressy as all hell here and there, but on the overall, it'll be fun. Right?
God, I hope so.
Anyway, for now I need to go get dressed and run some laundry and do as many chores as I can today, because tomorrow I spend half the day in transit to get to my chiropractic appointment on the other side of the sound.
Ah, and there's news; I'm currently seeing a chiropractor. The state of my back is actually sort of terrifying. I knew it hurt, I knew I was always in need of a massage, and stressed out and I carry all my stress in my back... but I had NO IDEA how bad it was. I went to the fair, and there was this booth... "Would you like us to take a free look at your back?" "..Sure, why not. If the people I'm here with don't mind..?" and he sits me down, pokes and prods gently at my back... and tells me I get a free screening appointment. "Your back could really use to be looked at, more than I can do here. When could you ..." blah blah blah. $37 dollars for the x-rays, when they'd normally be $200 or thereabouts, free for the appointment. Not only that, but they've actually got affordable service beyond that, thank god. About $45 to $55 per visit. Which, if I pay it in a lump, through the trust fund, will be easy enough. Hell, I could probably pay per-visit out of pocket, but I would rather get it a little cheaper by paying it all at once. And I really need the work. My back is like.. all messed up. He showed me the x-rays, and I was like "Oh so.. right there, which is why that hurts, and there, and.. wow.. my back looks kinda like a ladder from that there Chutes & Ladders game. Not good." =D So I'm getting it fixed, yes yes.
So, anyway. Chores call to be done, and the cat needs loving, and plans need making. So, I will hopefully be posting a little more often after this gigantic update.
See y'all soon!
